How to Choose or Create a Moving Day Playlist
Our ultimate move-in playlist is here to remind you of how fun the process can be. Great music is a crucial part of creating a productive atmosphere, so we've put together some of the best songs to move to. You can use our premade list or create your own. If you're looking for tips on how to make moving day more exciting, here are our thoughts on the power of a playlist.
Find the Fun
We love moving and our goal is to get you to love it as well! Moving is always the start of an amazing new chapter of life–and every chapter needs a vibe, a mood, a playlist. Music, especially energetic music, can help you step away from stress and find the fun in what you're doing. Whether it's "Love Tonight" or "Losing It," electronic hits always brighten our day, and we hope they'll brighten your moving day, too! You can always find a premade groove that works for you. There are millions of Spotify and Soundcloud generated playlists – and playlists created by artists and other listeners worldwide.
Get Into The Zone
While Beethoven or Mozart might've helped you wire into the essay-writing process in college, the tracks we've chosen are meant to help you get into a different kind of zone, one where you can let loose and get lost in the rhythm of moving. When you put our playlist on in the morning, you'll be halfway through packing before you know it. The playlist you choose shouldn’t be about forgetting you're moving, though. It should be about getting into a kind of meditative flow that makes moving feel faster, easier, and more rewarding than you ever could have imagined.
We love to move, and we want you to be totally psyched about the process, too. Our pros know focusing on the task at hand with a cheerful attitude will make every moment count. Whether you choose to move with us or try moving on your own, we want to help you be as mindful and productive as possible on moving day.
Share the Process: Before, During, and After
Just as it's essential for a smooth move, collaboration is key to building the perfect playlist. At muuv, we all pitched in to build ours, and hopefully, it reflects the range of our perspectives and gives you music you can move to! If you choose to build your own, consider crowdsourcing to create a dynamic collection of vibes. Playlists can be collaborative projects before, during, and after your move. Leading up to the day, you might love getting familiar with the songs we've chosen, or you might get together with friends, family, or your partner to decide what vibe you'd like to create for the moving process.
During a move, music can bring everyone in the room together, resulting in a shared atmosphere of energetic joy. And after, when you've settled into your new place, you'll have a record of that shared experience and can pass it on to the rest of your friend group when it's their time to move. Just like the right music can set the tone for the day, the right moving company can make all the difference. Reach out for your freet quote–it only takes a few minutes of your time, and moving with us can set the tone for a great beginning in your new home.
The Fundamentals of a Great Playlist
The best playlists are living documents, where everyone gets to contribute something and where nothing is too sacred. Practice moving tracks around to experience different flows, or even erase a handful of songs to see how it changes the atmosphere of the playlist. Above all else–make sure you’re having fun.
Binaural Therapy - Because - Science!
Have you ever heard of Binaural Beats? Binaural beat therapy is an up-and-coming form of sound therapy we want to share with you.
This type of sound therapy has proven to be very beneficial for helping people improve their concentration and calm them during stressful times. It makes use of the fact that the right and left ear each receive a slightly different frequency tone, yet the brain perceives these as a single tone.
There are 5 ‘zones’ of frequencies that have been shown to provide slightly different benefits; delta, theta, alpha, beta, and gamma.
Here’s a quick chart of how to use this type of sound therapy during different phases of your move journey:
Delta pattern: These frequencies are linked to deep sleep, healing, recovery, and rest.
Theta pattern: Contribute to improved meditation, creativity, and sleep in the rapid eye movement (REM) phase. Theta waves are especially useful for “power naps”.
Alpha pattern: Encourage relaxation, learning, flow states, and stress reduction.
Beta pattern: This frequency range may help promote focused attention, concentration, problem-solving and increased energy.
Gamma pattern: These frequencies are useful for high-level information processing, peak awareness, and memory recall.
If you’re feeling a little overwhelmed by the moving process, sound therapy and a good soundtrack can help a lot but enlisting the help of an expert will do even more. Let the Music Move You
Overall, think of our playlist as a starting point for your moving playlist journey. It works for us, but it might not be perfect for you. If it is, fantastic! If not, remember to keep these playlist-building ideas in mind while making your own:
1. Balance lyrics with instrumentals.
2. Add your favorites along with new songs you've just heard.
3. Reach out to friends for recommendations.
4. Look at other playlists for inspiration: did the creator build a rhythmical flow you like, and if so, how?
Here are some bonus tips we came up with, too!
5. For packing, maybe think of percussion-heavy songs so you can get into the rhythm.
6. For cleaning, maybe think electronic/synth-heavy songs to mirror the smoothness of the cleaning experience.
7. For unpacking, maybe think of songs with lyrics so you can sing along and unwind a bit.
